The Harp of Her Soul

The Harp of Her Soul (cardboard, acrylic, 51x70cm)
The Harp of Her Soul (cardboard, acrylic, 51 x 70 cm)

The ornaments of dark green below the girl’s right foot represent the detailed hidden patterns of her world, as dark as shadows of a wild forest. At the same time, the music produced by the harp, or a type of lute she is holding, fill her world with rainbow colours and yellow sheets. The harp is shaped as a Ukrainian instrument I was introduced to years after finishing this painting – titled bandura. I believe that having this art work completed before I became connected to this instrument holds a special meaning.
